What I'll be reading thanks to Libby!

I've done my fair share of complaining about how my local library has nothing when I go there to visit.  And then I decided to check out Libby.  It's a reading service that is hooked up to the local libraries in your area and the books you choose are delivered straight to your tablet or laptop computer.  They are sent in audio version or directly to your kindle depending on what you decide. I must be the last reader to discover a service like this and now that I have I am in book heaven!

Listed below, thanks to Libby, are the books I will be reading in the next two or three weeks and the biggest find was Forbidden Notebook (1952) by Alba de Cespedes.  Thanks  for recommending this book Sam!  I have almost finished Forbidden Notebook and it will definitely be on my best book list at the end of this year, a true classic.

And finally, Libby is very easy to sign up for.  All you need is your library card and you type in your card number and you are subsribed and can begin checking out books.  Libby gives you two weeks to read each book.  Some books there is a demand for but often the wait is no more than two weeks and so many quality books are available immediately and there is no charge.  It's a great service!

Happy Reading!

  1. I love my Libby. And my library for supporting it. Often when a book is not available on Libby, I’ll ask my friendly Readers Service librarian to try to add the book to Libby and invariably she can. When she can’t, often Hoopla ( another such library service) has it.

  2. Libby is such a great service and the library I signed up with, the Broward County Library has so many books available. There is no end to buy books anymore.

  3. Wow, you hit the jackpot on that digital library haul. I couldn't live without Libby (and Kanopy for movies). I use Libby more for audiobooks lately, but it's always fun to browse the app to see what might turn up unexpectedly. Glad you are enjoying The Forbidden Notebook. I still think about that woman sometimes and how such a simple decision rocked her whole world.

    1. I did hit the jackpot. These are all books I want to read and thanks for recommending The Forbidden Notebook. It's a reminder of how many great books have been written over the years, true works of art, that have fallen into obscurity and that's a shame.

    1. It is a great service and before libby I didn't see what others saw in the library experience because my own physical library is not good but now I understand because libby is the.new way to go to the library. Alhough it's still important to visit the libraries near us if only to be with people and get outside.

    1. It was a very good haul and thanks Tracy for recommending Bill Crider. I enjoyed The first Dan Rhodes mystery. I liked Dan and wanted to find out more about the town where he is sheriff.

  6. It's a great service. I'm on Libby for audios but sometimes there's quite a wait list for a book. Still I like it. I'm glad you found this ...

    1. Thanks Susan and I have found the wait for the audio is not as long but sometimes I have to read a book in written form. Although audio reading does go faster.
